Annual EPR fee = (weight per unit × units per year) × fee per tonne for the material at its RAM rating. Rates below are PackUK's Year 2 (2026/27) illustrative modulated household waste disposal fees, published December 2025. Red is set at 1.2× the base (amber) fee; green receives a discount of roughly 9% from the base fee.

Covers household packaging waste disposal fees for obligated producers (annual turnover of £2m or more and 50 tonnes or more of packaging handled). Excludes registration fees, scheme administrator costs and PRN obligations, so total savings are typically higher. A typical PLA-coated board pack is classed as fibre-based composite. Notpla-coated board is designed to remain in the paper and board stream. Confirm your own pack's RAM rating with your compliance scheme.
On bagasse: RAM 2027 lists bagasse (sugarcane fibre moulded packaging) under "other materials", which is rated red by default, amber only where take-back scheme evidence is met, and never green. The pEPR fee schedule's "other" row covers the same material list, so the two are treated here as the same category. The "assumption" column is a comparison baseline showing what the same pack would cost in the paper and board stream, not a claim about how any individual pack was previously rated. Bagasse packaging that also exceeds the PFAS limits is caught by the automatic red criteria as well.
